Meet the Faculty

Eric Fredrickson (Artistic Director) is a South-Florida based theater educator and artist! Currently, Eric is the acting & directing instructor at Bak Middle School of the Arts. He holds an MFA in Acting from Florida Atlantic University and a BFA in Acting from Drake University. As an actor and director, Eric has worked across the U.S. and Europe, with credits including Cunningham in To Kill a Mockingbird (directed by Stephen Wallem of Showtime’s Nurse Jackie), the Baker in Into the Woods, Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet, and Roger in Rent. His professional experience also includes collaborations with the Tony Award–winning Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, Festival Repertory (FAU), Iowa Stage, The Barn Theater-School, Theatre Lab, American Gothic Performing Arts Festival, Northern Lakes Arts, The Great Nordic Shakespeare Festival, and The Michael Chekhov Association. Eric is also a playwright—his first original work, Highway 61, received a staged reading last year at the Great Nordic Shakespeare Festival. As an educator, he is most proud of creating an ongoing partnership between Bak Middle School of the Arts and the Folger Shakespeare Library, allowing his students to collaborate with leading theatre professionals and scholars at the top of their craft. A proud member of VASTA (Voice and Speech Trainers Association), Eric’s teaching centers on voice, presence, and authentic expression. He holds certification in mVm® (The Miller Voice Method), which he uses to help his students—and himself—connect deeply to language and truth in performance. He extends heartfelt gratitude to his mentor JG (R.I.P.), his friends, and his family for their unwavering love, generosity, and support.

A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Jerrica Knight-Catania earned her degree in classical voice before transitioning into musical theater shortly after graduation. As an actress, she has had the privilege of portraying many iconic leading ladies, including Mother (Ragtime), Aldonza (Man of La Mancha), and Cathy (The Last Five Years). Additional notable credits include Tzeitel (Fiddler on the Roof), Marguerite (The Scarlet Pimpernel), Fastrada (Pippin), and various ensemble roles in the National Tour of My Fair Lady. Most recently, audiences may have seen her in The Barn Theatre’s concert production of Les Misérables, where she brought the bold and bawdy Mme. Thénardier to life.
As a director, Little Women marks Jerrica’s and Eric’s second large-scale musical together, following their successful co-direction of The Music Man at her high school alma mater. She has also written, directed, and performed in cabaret-style productions with The Second Act, a company she founded to help herself and fellow performers return to the stage. From that vision, she and her husband created the youth vocal ensemble The First Act. Founded in 2024, this talented group of teens shares four-part arrangements of musical theater, pop, and patriotic music throughout the community.
Jerrica is thrilled to share so many creative adventures with her incredible husband, Eric, and even a few with their amazing daughter, Bella.
